A French manufacturer founded by an Englishman in 1821, Gien has endured changing times marked by chrisis, war, and celebration. The brand exhibited at Universal Exhibitions (the original world fairs) as early as 1855. And yet today, the brand remains a top-selling company both in and outside of France.

Gien's "earthenware" is highly unique and is distinguished from other pottery with rich, refined and varied shapes, patterns, and styles. Such shapes, patterns, and styles offer a true reflection of French and European earthenware styles from the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries, and also of pottery styles from the Far East. Earthenware interpretations of Rouen styles, Dutch blue patterns from Delft, Italian majolica, Marseille rosebuds and others are the pride and honor of Gien.
