On Thursday, November 5, we will be hosting Lady Primrose owner Debby Fowler for a special event from 11-3. Customers will be able to preview the entire line, and to purchase jars of the company’s luxurious body cremes complete with hand-engraved, nickel plated lids. We will also be raffling away a Tryst gift basket, worth about $500.
What should you know about Debby’s company? It began as an antique shop in 1987 and would become much more in 1990 when its founders were commissioned to create a line of exceptional bath-oriented luxuries for London’s Lanesborough Hotel and its distinguished clientele. Soon after, guests began to call Dallas so they could purchase these products for their own homes.
At this time, the line consisted of two fragrances, signature fragrance Tryst and its companion Royal Extract. These two fragrances had been crafted by founders Carolyn Hunt and Vivian Young, who had set out to create an old-fashioned, all-natural product whose fragrance would be suitable for both sexes. The entire line of products had been influenced by a French perfumer as well as a British toiletries house which had been in business since 1677. This toiletries house worked with Carolyn and Vivian and graciously granted access to its archives. To get a better feel for founders Carolyn Hunt and Vivian Young and their vision, consider purchasing Carolyn’s published novel, Primrose Past: The 1848 Journal of Young Lady Primrose.
Today, the mysterious scent of Tryst and the golden aroma of Royal Extract remain, alongside newer fragrances such as Celadon, Turquesa, and the newest addition to the mix, Momentous. Ownership has turned hands, but the company proudly remains wholly women-owned. Luxury endures. Each item is “presented,” as a gift within a gift. Pictures speak a thousand words:

On Thursday October 1st from 11 am until 3 pm, The Linen Tree will be hosting Caspari personalization expert John Conts. Caspari’s entire line of paper greeting cards, napkins, plates and guest towels will be available to sample. We will be raffling away prizes, and John will be on hand to help you select and personalize the items you need for your upcoming Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas and holiday parties, making this a terrific opportunity to prepare for the upcoming holiday season.

The company was founded nearly 70 years ago, and initially imported Christmas cards made by European artists.
We will also have Care Cards on sale – this year’s proceeds benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital and the sale runs from October 16th to the 25th. This is a great opportunity to become more familiar with a rather unique line of bedding. Bella Notte bedding features a luscious palette of colors, textures, and fabrics. It looks and feels indulgent and inviting, and it boasts a truly unique style. Each piece is made in the United States using local community crafts people, and low impact non-toxic dyes.
Should you be enamored by anything you discover – we will be giving away free pillowcases with any $500 purchase of Bella Notte bedding!

We are gearing up to host Nancy Koltes for a trunk show at The Linen Tree, it’s now only a few days away! There will be hor d’ouerves, champagne, and of course luxury linens – but we hope that our customers will cherish the opportunity to simply meet Nancy, herself, in a relaxed environment. She is not only an influential designer, but also an accomplished entrepreneur, and was one of the first American individuals to gain prominence within the fine linens industry.
As mentioned (scroll below), Nancy has graciously offered to give away a set of Eleanor’s Ribbon. As such, we will be holding a raffle. Tickets will be sold for $5 a piece, and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. This is a great way to support a great cause, and who knows – you might walk away with some new, luxurious, sheets!
We will also be giving 20% off on all purchases of Nancy Koltes bedding that night. What might catch your fancy? Here are just a few possibilities…
Inspired by water color techniques, Giverny is an old design reinterpreted into luxury bedding. It is based on a painting by French artist Philippe David, a friend of Nancy’s. This collection features 100% Egyptian combed cotton sateen, and the design retains its original Impressionist feel and sense of fluidity and transparency.
Linen – actual linen, not cotton, or other fabrics now referred to as “linen,” – has been the choice of royalty for centuries. It might not always feel luxurious at the first touch, but linen features unmatched strength and a long staple; boasting great absorption properties, it stays cool to the touch. Nancy Koltes’ Linen Bruges collection, unlike anything else on the market, adds a crepe texture to subtly enhance both the look and feel of pure, Italian linen.
With a classic design and refined hemstitching, Nancy Koltes’ Medici features 100% Egyptian combed cotton woven to a soft and silky 1,010 thread count. A hidden gem, Medici is legitimately one of the most luxurious sheets that money can buy. It is perfect for the sophisticated individual looking to set themselves apart oh so subtly…
Something new; fresh from Nancy’s 2011 spring collection, these modern patterns feature simplicity and lyricism while still working within a traditional design vocabulary of luxury linens. 100% Egyptian cotton is woven to a fine, yarn-dyed jacquard that uniquely captures natural “flow.”
