Silk Story - fine linens, bath, tabletop & home decor at @ The Linen Tree Scottsdale
Most orders over $100 will ship for about $10 to the United States. Exceptions may apply for heavier orders, large quantities, or special circumstances.

Expedited shipping options are available according to estimated expenses. However, the actual shipping method will be determined in part by actual shipping expenses, relative to funds paid. If you need an item by a specific date, please let us know beforehand so that we can verify costs and availability.

Our store is located in Scottsdale, Arizona, and we usually ship orders via UPS (sometimes USPS) where we have the order in stock. However, we may arrange to have some orders shipped directly from their manufacturer. Customers residing in the Phoenix metropolitan area additionally have the option of picking up their order (when available) at no charge.

Standard online policies will not apply to orders placed by phone, or for international orders. For international shipments - we will contact you with an estimate of shipping costs after you place your order; you will be given the option of paying the shipping costs or cancelling your order.

Items that we have in stock are considered eligible for return within 30 days of the date of delivery. To guarantee a refund, items must be in their original packaging and their original condition - and not laundered; otherwise we may, at our discretion, refuse your return. For stocked items being returned within 15 days of delivery - you may request a prepaid shipping label and we will send one to you via e-mail as a courtesy (exceptions may apply for particularly large, heavy and/or bulk shipments).

While we may be more lenient with returns when items are purchased online rather than with the direct assistance of our sales staff, we reserve the right to refuse returns of merchandise that is special ordered from a manufacturer. Such requests will be treated on a case by case basis and may be heavily influenced by the manufacturer's return policy (or lack thereof). We will also usually refuse returns on items which are custom made, as well as items which have been shipped outside of the United States.

Please contact us with any related questions before placing an order. Thanks!

Silk Story

Silk Story

Silk Story

Silk Story is for the delight of all who love the luxurious, lustrous magic of silk. Uncommonly creative, artistic, and practical uses of silk showcase the versatility of the fiber.

The "story" begins in 2008 with Arun Jain, an engineer turned textile master. While living in Shanghai, he developed a love for all things silk. Travels deep into China's heartland revealed unusual uses of silk in everyday life and simple homes, as well as a wealth of stunning craftsmanship in weaving, stitching and embroidery. With assistance from local artisans, he began updating traditional Chinese bedding structures, fabrics, and colors for western settings. His engineer's penchant for tinkering and perfectionism found creative expression through their skilled, patient hands.

Today, Silk Story encompasses two brands: Raeshmi, an innovative line of silk bedding; and SiXin, art renditions in hand-embroidered silk. The Raeshmi line contains silk sheets, silk filled duvets, "Bluvets," and pillowcases, plus loungeware and accessories. Most pieces feature Raeshmi's trademark Whispercale fabric, a mixture of silk and cotton that is specially treated so that the individual fibers swell and relax. Whispercale stays cool to the touch and is machine washable. Bright satin lustre ebbs to a more subtle glow.

SiXin, meanwhile, is a highly collaborative and artistic effort which captures the magnificence of hand-embroidered silk. Unlike oil or watercolor, embroidered silk shimmers subtly and changes hue as it catches light, producing remarkable 3-D effects. In eastern China, embroidered silk was for centuries reserved for use by the Imperial Court. Being both tough and finely detailed, it later found an unusual application in battlefield maps. This ancient art has been revived of late and is still practiced entirely by hand. Thin needles ("brushes") and fine thread ("colors") are used to "paint" vibrant images of landscapes, people, flora and fauna, and extraordinary renditions of photographs and paintings.

SiXin artisans learn over 40 types of stitches and how to choose, match and blend colors. For the finest detail, they learn to split a thread down to 1/16 of its thickness and thread it using an ultra fine needle. They typically have at least ten years of experience and are recruited by master artisans who typically run studios of 10-20 people.
